Buddy In The Holidays!
When we arrived at the zoo the parking lot was stuffed so we left that job for my dad and hopped out of the car and went looking in the gift shop. I started laughing like a choking giraffe and everyone stared at me with their piercing eyes. I carried on but I had found a marvellous toy. It was a pink flamingo with a long neck which moved side to side which made me laugh. Once my dad arrived he had bought the tickets and he also brought along with him a map of the zoo. As we walked in the entrance showing our receipt and we took a fabulous family photo. Behind a green screen we took our first photo then a surprised face photo as we pointed to nothing. When we were done my sister and me got handed booklets of questions which we had to answer as we went through the zoo. I was waiting on the bridge to see the giraffe open it’s mouth so I could see that purple tongue of theirs with my own eyes. We passed the turtles as I looked through my booklet and saw a question about the turtles, it read ‘Why were the turtles sick?’ so I went back and read the boards carefully. Unfortunately that is still a mystery to be solved. Once we arrived beside the humongous elephants with their tall trunks I saw a beautiful waterfall with a gigantic puddle which the elephants walked across into the massive puddle. One of the elephants, after coming out of the water was a darker brown colour more black and then used its trunk to fill up it’s body with sand so it once again was brown. My sister told me that the sand is like a sunscreen for them to protect them from the sun's UV rays. Guess you do learn something new everyday. I spotted a sign saying ice-creams milkshakes and more and went to the shop and bought myself and everyone else their own fries and an ice-cream cone each. My brother used the map as a guide and was like a tour guide the whole way. My sister dragged everybody into the meerkat tunnel to see them. It was a long pipe and my dad complained the whole way and tried to convince us to go back while we can. When we had come out my mum’s shoes were ruined. We kept walking until my legs ached. We had seen all the animals except two. Maybe that might be a mission for next time. We decided to leave and made our way back. My mum bought the photos and they looked magnificent. We walked down to the car across the motat train tracks and we picked up pizza on the way home. I was stuffed and took a looooong nap. I don’t think there is going to be a next time going to the zoo I was haunted by the memory of the gorillas.
