Arriving in Mount Roskill?
As I walked through customs. They go through our bags and I thought it was rude ever heard of privacy what if they found my underwear. Apparently you aren’t allowed to bring any food here. Whew! I didn’t bring any. We picked up our bags and I looked around and I saw a sign saying Amanda, Amelia and Matt a taxi is waiting for you. “Dad come here” I said. The kind man escorted us to our taxi. The driver inside said “Welcome to Aotearoa”.
“I think you mean New Zealand”. I said worried I thought did we get on the wrong plane. On the ride he politely explained to me that Aotearoa is another word for New Zealand.
As I looked out the window of the taxi I saw a magnificent house right before my eyes. I walked over to it and my dad stopped me
“Where are you going?” he asked
“To our house Duh?” I replied
“That’s not our house” he said
Our house was the more smaller house beside it well it was slightly smaller. Even though it didn’t look that great from the outside compared to the house next door when I walked inside it turned out to the best house ever.
I rushed up the stairs and quickly scanned the rooms to pick the one I liked best. This was the last one to look at as I opened the door I knew it was the perfect room for me. I suddenly had the urge to jump on the bed I ended up making a mess so I had to clean it.
I walked down the stairs into the living room. My stomach grumbled and rumbled Grrrr! Mmmm! I ran into the kitchen and studied the draws which was filled with food. Guess my mum started unpacking. I spotted a bag of Veggie Chips my favourite.
I slunked on the couch as I flicked through the channels and saw Liv and Maddie Olive and Me used to watch this everyday because we call her Liv. It reminded me of home and all at once tears rolled down my face. I wiped them away as I tried to keep on a brave face.
I went to check out the backyard and found myself climbing to the top of the treehouse and now when I need some personal space it’s mine unless it rains then it’s all Mia’s. I saw our neighbor’s ‘spying’ on me over the fence, I politely went to say “Hi” and that rude lady totally ignored me.
I thought I’d go take a peek at the neighbor's house with the humongous house. I was curious to see the inside of the house and wondering if my luck will change with the next neighbor. I knocked and waited but unfortunately they weren’t in I guess since there was no answer at the door.
Dad granted me permission to take a walk around the block. I All the houses were beautiful as ours maybe even a bit more. But they were all different thin ones, wide ones, small ones, big ones and tall ones. I walked until I reached a unusual house it was a different colour to all the rest of the houses it was brown. The girl who was busy playing netball smiled at me and said “Hi” so I replied and said “Hi”. She goes to the school up the street May Road School. I had a task to fulfill convince dad to take me to May Road School. Her name was Stacy and she could be my first friend. She told me there was a park around here.
I went on my mission to find this park Stacy was talking about. On my journey I crossed a church and soon I will be going there on Sundays I believe. I played at the park for a while and then decided to make my way back home.
Then my attention drifted to the barking dog behind who chased me back home. I guess I won’t be taking the neighbor’s dog for a walk. I waited a hour or two just before I was sure the dog was no longer roaming around.
Now it was time for my successful walk around the block. I found an area filled with shops. Since I had no money right now I went window shopping and looked around the Warehouse.
Once I finally reached my house it was time for the sunset to come along. I raced up to my bedroom and sat on the balcony and watched the sun set. I had fallen into a deep sleep.
