Chapter 16 Coding

Even though I am horrible at learning languages I wasn’t so bad this time. We had the chance to learn a new language of computers and digital devices which is Coding. Let it go Let it go, Yes that’s right I was doing the coding all about frozen. First we learnt the basics and started of with a line. Throughout the levels it started to get more complex. I was on a roll at least until puzzle 6.  I begged for help but Miss Haydon kept reminding me perseverance is the key. It was frustrating. So I tried and I tried and finally I got it. We all gathered round and watched it until at last it was finished. Sorry try again it read, What?. So I clicked hint and it said you’re not going right in a 36 degree. I looked again I was going right in a 36 degree angle. This was so messed up. I kept working on it until I was fed up. I was shown a wonderful trick to skip a level so I moved on. Until I went across another puzzle which I couldn’t get, I was doing what it said. I wasn’t sure how minecraft, flappy bird, star wars and others would be like. You never know unless you give it a go. It turned out that I was really good because there was not a something like a puzzle 6. From now on if something is messed up, it’s a puzzle 6.

Chapter 15 Cooking

I was jumping up and down and suddenly a smile appeared on my face. I was going to cook. I put on my apron and got ready to cook. I screamed for my mum to come as we had a fabulous dish to prepare, Lasagna. Firstly we had to get the tin or tray. I was ready but I hadn’t realized how long this was going to take and what hard work we had to do. We made layers of mince, potato and lots of sauce. Fantastic done and now time to cook this to perfection.

Chapter 14 Dear Mandi,

Boom! Bang! Kaboom! On a starry night the sky was filled with colourful fireworks from everywhere. It was time to put the fireworks we bought to use. I held out the sparkles as everyone came outside. My mum warned me to be careful as she lit the sparkles and I made shapes in the air. I went crazy with it and twirled and twirled it around. 3 2 1 Light off! I yelled. The fireworks blasted into the sky. It looked so beautiful. There were lots of colours combined together as it lit up the sky. There was so many loud bangs. There was an assortment of colours which made it look amazing and spectacular. Soon we had to go inside. I just wanted to sit on the deck the whole night and just watch. I couldn’t sleep with all the noises outside. So I started from the window until I finally fell asleep. Guy Fawkes Night was a blast literally. I hope you had a wonderful night and enjoyed celebrating your first Guy Fawkes Day in New Zealand. It was a fun night.

Chapter 13 Halloween

On a spooky night where creatures come out from hiding like witches, vampires and werewolves. I was a vampire, at least I was dressing up as one with blood running down my mouth and sharp teeth in my mouth with a black long cape. I hadn’t got ready yet and I had just woken up, it was the weekend I had to sleep in. After a few hours went by I heard a knock on the door. It was Hailee and Maddie they wanted me to come along to play with them “I was hoping to get ready at my house first” I said as I rejected their offer. I told them I’d come over at 5 an hour before the light party. Later I received a text from Maddie’s sister she said they already left. I was mad but I wasn’t going to ruin my day. I was ready and I looked creepy but cute. I was ready to leave. Once I arrived I looked at her and she knew I was mad. Maddie explained her sister meant she left to come to my house. Ohhh I felt embarrassed. We forgave each other and our friendship holds on. We had a fun night and played some games and won lollies. I got to make my biscuit with icing and toppings.

Chapter 12 Since you've been gone

While you were gone we got to explore Mt Roskill Intermediate so we’ll find out where the toilets are. The day before the horrid teachers told us there exact words were “If you not here by 8:45 were leaving without you”. Woke up at 7 in the morning and reached school at 8:20. I knew I had watched too much tv in the morning. First bell rang and I made sure someone was covering me for Patrols, Credits to my friend Kaitlyn. Everything was going right so far. I headed to class and then into Rm 14. Now we were on the bus. Ms Molly read out the role and to my surprise she said I wanted to leave someone behind. The bus driver took the long way so they was time for some interesting chats with my friends you never know what’s going to happen when you talk to someone. This was my chance to loom around the school. I met some new teachers and an especially crazy in a good way teacher. As we got into her classroom she hit a button and the music played as she danced. Time for a challenge, Oh No! I was terrified I hate surprises and challenges but not when there on my birthday. We were given a trapezium with different shapes inside. I cut steadily

Bye Amanda

Amanda has left May Road School. She will go on another journey and our stories will be read to others about our Buddy (Amanda). Have a great adventure. I'll miss you Mandi

Chapter 11 We’re going on a trip…

“Drink Bottle” I read off the list
“Check” I said
“Warm Jacket”
“Check”
“Sport Shoes”
“Check”
“Good Lunch”
“Check”, I carried on. Today was the day, it was time for Kiwisports.
As I walked into class I overheard a conversation
“Yay! We’re going Kiwi sports today”. When I put my chromebook in my desk, I noticed on the board. I walked closer as I read it. I was disgusted how could they postpone it. I was so excited. The rest of the day was spent doing classwork on a normal day.

Chapter 10 The Weekend

I went out exploring in the neighborhood and stopped in front of a bike store. I rushed back home and dragged my dad out of the house to see this store. After an hour or two I found the perfect match. A bike the colour of the magnificent blue sky. It had an white basket on the front of it for holding my school bag ofcourse. I decided I would ride it home and my dad stopped me and said “Mandi you can’t ride a bike instantly, you’ve got to learn.  I had seen people riding to school on their bikes and how hard could it be. Well as stubborn as I am, I listened. I took it out on the backyard as I tried to ride it but totally fell over. I already knew this was going to be a long day. I persevered but couldn’t get it right. Finally I ran to my dad for help and he attached the training wheels. I got the hang of this but know let’s try it without the training wheels. I knew this was going to be a disaster. I told dad to hold onto the back of the back as I rode along but then as typical as dad’s he let go leaving me thinking that he was still there. My head turned to look back then to my horror no one was there. My massive stumble caused a graze. I was furious, I headed back getting ready to tell off my dad. He told me look on the positive side you can ride it without me. How could he say that when I had a great, big graze on my leg. Now I was happy that I could ride the bike on my own but also how could dad do that? when he knew that I didn’t know how to ride a bike. In a few weeks I knew I was going to be a professional on riding bikes.

Chapter 9 Back to School

I got up in the morning overjoyed and terrified ready for school. Once I arrived I was greeted by all my friends. My eyes opened as I glanced at the clock it was 8 0 clock and I was dreaming. I remembered it’s the first day of school I instantly got up like I was rising from the dead. I took an enormous step out the door and looked out and I couldn’t see a thing, it was dark and silent. Ooops, there’s still a long night ahead of us. No she didn’t, my sister changed the clock in our room. Well I’ll deal with that in the morning. Finally it was time for school correction, the right time for school. I headed for the bathroom and thought I was the only one awake so I tiptoed to the bathroom so I could be first but ended up in a queue. I reached over for my chromebook as I sent my reading log once again to Andrea. I had a big breakfast and headed out the door and got in the car as we road away to school. I walked along the gigantic court and was smushed into big hugs and hi’s until I reached the senior block and walked up the stairs. I stood in front of the door and found myself looking at a different classroom, I couldn’t remember it being this way. I searched through every single desk and soon after found my desk. It was at the edge of the classroom beside the doorway. A loud ear piercing bell rang throughout the school.

Chapter 8 Holidays (Time for relaxation)

Buddy In The Holidays!

When we arrived at the zoo the parking lot was stuffed so we left that job for my dad and hopped out of the car and went looking in the gift shop. I started laughing like a choking giraffe and everyone stared at me with their piercing eyes. I carried on but I had found a marvellous toy. It was a pink flamingo with a long neck which moved side to side which made me laugh. Once my dad arrived he had bought the tickets and he also brought along with him a map of the zoo. As we walked in the entrance showing our receipt and we took a fabulous family photo. Behind a green screen we took our first photo then a surprised face photo as we pointed to nothing. When we were done my sister and me got handed booklets of questions which we had to answer as we went through the zoo.  I was waiting on the bridge to see the giraffe open it’s mouth so I could see that purple tongue of theirs with my own eyes. We passed the turtles as I looked through my booklet and saw a question about the turtles, it read ‘Why were the turtles sick?’ so I went back and read the boards carefully. Unfortunately that is still a mystery to be solved. Once we arrived beside the humongous elephants with their tall trunks I saw a beautiful waterfall with a gigantic puddle which the elephants walked across into the massive puddle. One of the elephants, after coming out of the water was a darker brown colour more black and then used its trunk to fill up it’s body with sand so it once again was brown. My sister told me that the sand is like a sunscreen for them to protect them from the sun's UV rays. Guess you do learn something new everyday. I spotted a sign saying ice-creams milkshakes and more and went to the shop and bought myself and everyone else their own fries and an ice-cream cone each. My brother used the map as a guide and was like a tour guide the whole way. My sister dragged everybody into the meerkat tunnel to see them. It was a long pipe and my dad complained the whole way and tried to convince us to go back while we can. When we had come out my mum’s shoes were ruined. We kept walking until my legs ached. We had seen all the animals except two. Maybe that might be a mission for next time. We decided to leave and made our way back. My mum bought the photos and they looked magnificent. We walked down to the car across the motat train tracks and we picked up pizza on the way home. I was stuffed and took a looooong nap. I don’t think there is going to be a next time going to the zoo I was haunted by the memory of the gorillas.

Chapter 7 Part 3 Another Day of School

Day 3 at May Road School Wednesday

Today I was ready and awake and up to go to school. This morning we had a special guest come in from the ASB bank. he taught us about how to be safe with money and how to raise money at this age. We came up with 28 ways and he told us some jokes along the way when he was teaching us. Now I know he hates cats and he taught us about what he had done like when he sold his car to get a less cheaper car. Now I know about interest when you put money in a bank. The best thing for saving will be to save money in a bank. After a wonderful time at Morning Tea we came back inside and finished our maths problem and made a wonderful comic to Thank Waikowhai Intermediate for inviting us. Later we just finished our work which we had to catch up on. Once I came home I might have got a bit jealous and exaggerated about the alright day I had in class because today was a day when we didn’t use our chromebooks not even once and Amelia was bragging.

Chapter 7 Part 2 Second Day of School

Day 2 at May Road School Tuesday

I got up in the morning listening to the annoying sound of my alarm clock. I found myself reaching over to press the snooze button as part of my normal routine. After a few minutes my eye opened again but now I was awaken by the sound of screaming and shouting and I got up thinking it was an emergency. Soon I realised there was a whole week of school not just a day. In a hurry I dragged out my uniform out of my closet and got dressed. I headed to the bathroom and now was queuing in line. When I finally made my way inside the bathroom and in a flash finished brushing my teeth. I was nearly ready to leave now all that was left to do is put on my shoes. With one shoe on I hopped into the car. In a hurry I put on my other shoe and made our way to May Road School. I walked through the front entrance and made my way to the office and greeted Miss Lewis with a Hello and took off to my class for another day of school. Today we had a trip to Waikowhai Intermediate to see a show which we had no clue what it was going to be about. We had a journey and we went on foot and we found out it was about Anzac and the War. It was called Anthem (Our Tribute). I was really anxious to see the show as it was the first one I had ever seen. It started and everybody had quietened down. I love the acts which were performed and the different outfits worn by the characters in the production. I learnt a lot about War and thought about the sacrifice the soldiers made and made me feel grateful for our lives and thankful for the soldiers who lost theirs. There was a bit of romance in the play just tucked in. Later we walked back to school and in the middle of our walk it started with a drip and then it rained down and we waited under shelter as we talked and babbled. Then when the rain had calmed down and then stopped we made our way to school. After we had come back to school we finished our maths problem for the best deal. Another amazing day of school.

Chapter 7 First Day at School Oh No!

Day One at May Road School Monday

My heart raced because I thought I was late and rushed towards the office. After I entered the office I was feeling nervous and excited at the same time. I got butterflies in my stomach but I kept a brave face on. I could tell Amelia was scared and frightened by the look on her face. The kind lady at the front desk asked
“How may I help you”. I replied and said
“I’m enrolling today”. Soon when the process was done, she assigned me to a class. I was in rm 22 and my sister Amelia was in rm 21. I heard a loud bell which ran throughout the whole school. Hooray! Miss Lewis also told us we don’t write with pencil and paper with get our brand new chromebooks. Amelia’s class was right down the hall to mine. I went by myself to my class I was too embarrassed to go with dad holding my hand all the way there. When I finally reached my class I was told to introduce myself and talk a little bit about me. So I said that “my name is Amanda but you can call me Mandi with an I”. I also said that  I come from a country named Organza. The teacher, Mr Andrew paired me with a buddy. Yes! It was Stacy the girl I saw playing netball around the neighborhood. Stacy told me what we were doing today and today was Art Day and that it is a special day. I started making my diorama by getting my own box and started to work on it. Soon I had made the lights bed and windows with curtains. Another bell strung and I knew it was time for lunchtime or playtime. I learnt after the first bell it is morning tea not lunch. Stacy showed me around and she even told me where the toilets where hahaha! Later I played with her and her friends and I met Lucy, Sam and Kelly and we played Netball. Once we came back I carried on and Mr Andrew was looking for a place in the class were we could squish our work. I was nearly done, I was now making a wardrobe and made some clothes with some really nice fabric. Finally I was finished and Mr Andrew found a space for us to hang up or Diorama. Now it was lunch and I ate and then we played a game of volleyball. When I came back it to the class I was puffing. The big boss principal came to check up on us. She looked at all our dioramas and gave a compliment for mine. The classroom was a mess and it took about ½ an hour to clean up the classroom. OMG! I’m so tired once we went home, I had a big nap.

Chapter 6 Mt Roskill Here we come

Arriving in Mount Roskill?
As I walked through customs. They go through our bags and I thought it was rude ever heard of privacy what if they found my underwear. Apparently you aren’t allowed to bring any food here. Whew! I didn’t bring any. We picked up our bags and I looked around and I saw a sign saying Amanda, Amelia and Matt a taxi is waiting for you. “Dad come here” I said. The kind man escorted us to our taxi. The driver inside said “Welcome to Aotearoa”.
“I think you mean New Zealand”. I said worried I thought did we get on the wrong plane. On the ride he politely explained to me that Aotearoa is another word for New Zealand.

As I looked out the window of the taxi I saw a magnificent house right before my eyes. I walked over to it and my dad stopped me
“Where are you going?” he asked
“To our house Duh?” I replied
“That’s not our house” he said
Our house was the more smaller house beside it well it was slightly smaller. Even though it didn’t look that great from the outside compared to the house next door when I walked inside it turned out to the best house ever.

I rushed up the stairs and quickly scanned the rooms to pick the one I liked best. This was the last one to look at as I opened the door I knew it was the perfect room for me. I suddenly had the urge to jump on the bed I ended up making a mess so I had to clean it.

I walked down the stairs into the living room. My stomach grumbled and rumbled Grrrr! Mmmm! I ran into the kitchen and studied the draws which was filled with food. Guess my mum started unpacking. I spotted a bag of  Veggie Chips my favourite.

I slunked on the couch as I flicked through the channels and saw Liv and Maddie Olive and Me used to watch this everyday because we call her Liv. It reminded me of home and all at once tears rolled down my face. I wiped them away as I tried to keep on a brave face.

I went to check out the backyard and found myself climbing to the top of the treehouse and now when I need some personal space it’s mine unless it rains then it’s all Mia’s. I saw our neighbor’s ‘spying’ on me over the fence, I politely went to say “Hi” and that rude lady totally ignored me.

I thought I’d go take a peek at the neighbor's house with the humongous house. I was curious to see the inside of the house and wondering if my luck will change with the next neighbor. I knocked and waited but unfortunately they weren’t in I guess since there was no answer at the door.

Dad granted me permission to take a walk around the block. I All the houses were beautiful as ours maybe even a bit more. But they were all different thin ones, wide ones, small ones, big ones and tall ones. I walked until I reached a unusual house it was a different colour to all the rest of the houses it was brown. The girl who was busy playing netball smiled at me and said “Hi” so I replied and said “Hi”. She goes to the school up the street May Road School. I had a task to fulfill convince dad to take me to May Road School. Her name was Stacy and she could be my first friend. She told me there was a park around here.

I went on my mission to find this park Stacy was talking about. On my journey I crossed a church and soon I will be going there on Sundays I believe. I played at the park for a while and then decided to make my way back home.

Then my attention drifted to the barking dog behind who chased me back home. I guess I won’t be taking the neighbor’s dog for a walk. I waited a hour or two just before I was sure the dog was no longer roaming around.

Now it was time for my successful walk around the block. I found an area filled with shops. Since I had no money right now I went window shopping and looked around the Warehouse.

Once I finally reached my house it was time for the sunset to come along. I raced up to my bedroom and sat on the balcony and watched the sun set. I had fallen into a deep sleep.

Chapter 5 Leaving Home and Take off to New Zealand

Leaving Home coming to New Zealand

No! No! No! Why are we leaving our luxury life to be in a place called New Zealand? Later that day I heard dad on the phone “I’ve got the tickets booked and soon we’ll be on the plane to go to New Zealand”. I’ve got to talk dad out of this what is he thinking were living a perfect life here. Dad walks up to me
“What’s the matter?” he asks.
I reply “Dad we can’t go, I want to stay here and why are we going to New Zealand can’t we go somewhere else like Paris, London or even New York”.
“I got a promotion for my job so we need to go and about that you’re not going anyways so don’t worry” he says.
“What do you mean I’m not going” I say confused.
“Well if you don’t want to…”
I cut him off “I do I do” I plead.
This was my dad’s master plan to make me come to New Zealand. I fell for it. All of my dearest family get into the 10 seater car as we drive a looong way to the airport. Once we arrived My, Dad and I got out of the car. Then everybody else drove away
“Dad where are they going” I ask confused.
“They’re just going to park the car”. He says.
We get aboard the plane and off we go. I scream “Wait! All my family isn’t here yet”. But unfortunately the pilot didn’t hear and off we went. Dad reveals the truth that he was planning to leave them behind in Organza all along. “What?” I said. I’m furious with dad he said ‘they’re just parking’ but all along he kept it a secret that they weren’t coming. I’m so devastated and mortified that we had to leave all of them behind, why couldn’t we just leave dad. After a few hours I got over it I wasn’t going to ruin a wonderful day because of dad. The flight attendant says over the speaker “Please remain seated and fasten your seatbelts we are about to land”.

Chapter 4 School...

School in Organza
School Starts at 8 am in the morning and ends after 5 hours at 3 pm school ends. The school I go to is whitmore primary. We use pencil and paper and my teacher makes us redo our work if our handwriting is messy. One time I had to write my speech 4 times over and over again. My teacher Ms Hayley is a really nice but really strict at the same time. My favourite subject is P.E because our P.E teacher Ms Laurence is the kindest teacher ever and because I’m so good at sports but she gives us the hardest homework ever. This week our homework was to write a 2 page essay on the Olympics. At school we have a whole week dedicated to art, as the principal says everybody has a inner art piece. My locker is so messy maybe someday I’ll clean it up. At playtime I play with my bff’s Alice, Katy, Stacy, Emma, Lexi, Katherine and Olive. Now I’ve got to finish my essay. We have the cutest uniform ever, my friends say they don’t like wearing uniform and I say Yeah uniform is so ugly. But secretly  I’m in love. For uniform we can wear any shoes of your choice but it must be worn with pink shoelaces and a nice navy blue skirt. The shirt is black with a cute collar also with a pop of colour with the red school logo on the side. The sweater is a light blue colour which totally pulls together the outfit. Oops I forgot to mention it’s a girl only school. Just imagine a boy wearing this uniform Hahahahahaha!

Chapter 3 Interests and Hobbie's

Interest and Life in General
I am a sporty person and I love the outdoors. I play Netball at school and with my best friends Alice, Katy, Stacy, Emma, Lexi, Katherine and Olive. Sometimes we all meet up at anyone of our houses and have sleepovers. We have special friendship necklaces which are the colours of the rainbow, mine is purple and Alice’s is red, Katy’s is yellow, Stacy’s is blue, Emma’s is green, Lexi’s is orange and Katherine’s is pink and Olive’s is aqua . Even though I am athletic  at the same time I can be girly. In my spare time I like to design dresses and I’m very decorative just look at my room.

For some extra cash I do some jobs for my neighbors. Like mowing Mrs Brown’s lawn or taking Mr Wilson’s dog out for a walk around the block and more. I also have to do chores around the house so you could say I’m already educated for doing jobs so then I can do the neighbors too.

Hobbie

I like to sing in the shower and I love doing arts and crafts by messing around to create a excellent creation. I like to make necklaces and bracelets and all that kind of stuff even though it can get messy. Sports is one of my favourite things to do and I love to get outdoors.
