 Take a look at my poster about Keeping lids on bottles when you recycle. Have you been naughty and taken of the lids, well now you know so take some action and do the right thing. Did you know that we have to keep the lids on?

Room 15 recently were visiting Visy, because we have been studying about recycling. Visy is a recycle station and we learnt a lot about the process our rubbish goes through. We learnt a variety of different facts. This is one of the facts I learnt some other facts are: 1. The glass of Cups and Windows can not be recycled because it is made out of a special type of glass which won't melt easily and to convert rubbish into new things we can use we need to melt it in a furnace and we can't do that if it won't melt properly. 2. There is 7 types of plastics. There is so many more fun facts about Recycling. Comment below if you have been to Visy or want to know something about Recycling.

Fractions & Decimals

Today we learnt Place Value. I learnt about how many hundredths make tenths and how many tenths are in a number of hundredths. I also know how to convert a fraction into a decimal e.g 1/10 = 0.1 & 3/100 = 0.03. We have learnt how to add decimals and fractions too. e.g 0.4 + 0.06 = 0.46 & 0.2 + 0.5= 0.7 & 8/100 + 4/10 = 48/100. Something I learnt is 10/100 are the same as 1/10 that means 10/100 = 1/10.

SCIENCE EXPERIMENT 20/05/2015

Equipment/materials (what were ALL the things you used to conduct the experiment?): Cardboard/plastic boat which looks like a house with a door, Liquid Soap, toothpick, white pepper, Shallow plastic tray

Hypothesis (what was the prediction you made Before you started doing anything?):  The Soap would move the boat

Steps taken (list as much detail as you can):

1. Fill the tray with water.
2. Sprinkle white pepper over the surface of the water.
3. Put in the boat faced plastic down on the water.
4. Squeeze soap on the toothpick and put it in the door of the house and now it will start to look like a boat.
5. The boat will start to move and the white pepper will spread out
6. This is happening because the soap is going backwards which will make the boat move.

Result (what actually happened, and was it the same as, or different from your prediction?) : The boat did move but I learnt how.

Conclusion (what did you learn from the experiment?):

That water has a surface and a game I can play with my friends. Bugs and insects can walk on the surface of the water.
